2 - The Champion Makes The Walk

Cara St. John’s path was much different than Dixie’s

She is quite simply a naturally gifted wrestler and athlete.   Sports just came easy to her.  When she first laid eyes on professional wrestling, with the glitz and the glamor, it immediately struck her as what she wanted to do.
 
Tall and fit, blonde and beautiful, athletic and skilled.  It was a terrific combination and within the first weeks of her tryouts it was clear she was a cut above the other girls.  They were all good in some aspects, Cara was good in them all.   During training she always got the better of her opponents no matter who they were.  She was agile enough to hang with smaller and quicker girls and strong and big enough that the bigger girls couldn’t overpower her. If she got the chance she’s get herself submission victories, but she found that pinning a girl down, woman to woman proved to her she was better.    To top it all off she did it with a happy and infectious attitude.   She always had a smile and always patted everyone else on the back.   She was easy to like.   Still it didn’t mean it was easy for her.   She worked very hard at her craft, putting in the hours, honing her moves and working to improve.  She was a product of both good genes and hard work.   She took nothing for granted.  

Her first few matches were walkovers.   Simply overwhelming inferior competition with both skillful holds and power moves, gathering followers as she went.   As the competition got tougher the only thing that changed was the length of the match.   It just took her longer to put away a higher class of opponent or a more experienced one.   And she did it all to that adulation of the crowds.   Everywhere she went she was a fan favorite.   How could she not be?  

When the call to the big time came, and it came quickly, prior to her 22nd birthday in fact, she was elated and many in the business were happy for her.   It was a celebratory time for her and she, along with some close friends, took a short vacation to the Caribbean.   Enjoying each other’s company, having some fun, and catching some sun proved a fantastic way to jump start her high profile, pro career.

When she showed for her first show everyone commented on her tan.  With her golden locks and tanned body someone shot an offhand remark, she doesn’t even remember who, but 'The Golden Goddess' was born on that first night.
   
Six months later she was champion.   Earning both the championship match and the title through hard work and dedication, she won the title on one of the ubiquitous PPV that seemed to show every couple of weeks these days.   It was a hard fought match but in the end she prevailed, nailing the champion with her version of the Tombstone Piledriver to get the win and the title.   She was a gracious winner, saying all the right things to all the right people about all of her opponents and the Global Wrestling Association.   She was a very worthy champion.   And took no one for granted.
 
That’s why here and now, 9 months later she walked down the walkway toward the ring, soaking in the cheers of the fans, but focused on only one person.
Dixie Ramone who awaited her in the ring and wanted what  Cara had… the belt.

‘Not tonight, Dix’ she thought as she approached the ring and started up the stairs for yet another title defense.
